The New Hip
Sunday 16th June
Stephen Blackburn (TV Fast Forward, Australia You’re Standing In It & Choir of Hard Knocks) and his trio will present his very witty original songs aimed at modern absurdities, pretence and frustrations in a dizzying array of musical styles. His engaging patter from the piano takes the audience through unexpected moments of genuine poignancy spiked with belly laughs.
Sunday 15th September
Sharp musicianship and silken 4 part harmonies fuel this acoustic driven band who presents a flashback to 70’s radio sound with impressively penned originals inspired by the big names of the era America – Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, The Band, Little Feat, Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Emy Lou Harris, Stills Nash & Young.
Sunday 15th December
Dr Hernandez play an exotic tone of rootsy electro – cumbia, soulful boogaloo and funky reggae. Bringing a new twist to these traditions, the band combines electronic beats and Hammond – infused grooves with a three piece horn section, percussion and Sally Ford’s soaring Spanish vocals. This is music for dancing, listening or just lounging. Guaranteed to be good for whatever ails you.
